The Menastree

The Menastree is a group of Carolina natives that have come together recently to reinforce
the Queen City music scene. Jesse Lamar Williams, Jeremy Maher, Zach Wheeler, Will Pinson
and Braxton Bateman are the core of the Menastree, providing a sound that can best be described
as “feel good music” with a blend of jazz, hip hop, soul funk and an eclectic blend of every genre
combined.

School 105.3 WOSF, the highest-ranking Urban Adult
Contemporary radio station in the Queen City and on weekdays
co-hosting The Tom Joyner Morning Show , while also producing
Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell on Praise 100.9 WPZS and
the Rickey Smiley Show on 92.7 The Block WQNC.  In the past,
Chirl has worked extensively with V101.9, WBAV and Steve

PRIME is a jazz/fusion band based out of Wilmington, NC. Comprised of North Carolina prodigies Ryan Saranich (saxophone), Mike D’Angelo (drums) and Taylor Lee (bass), PRIME draws their inspiration from fusion legends like The Brecker Brothers, Chick Corea’s Elektric Band and Jaco Pastorius. PRIME’s members have individually traveled all across the world and have studied, performed with and even recorded with some of the most legendary names in jazz music today.

Funk Rush

Funk Rush’s music is an intense mix of old school funk, rock, and jazz. It’s a dynamic blend of funk, form, and improvisation
with an emphasis on original compositions and the occasional stylized covers.

Lovell Bradford Quartet

I’m a Charlotte based pianist who grew up and received my first musical infuences in the Chicago area. Growing up playing in the church, I have gospel roots that still show in my performances on piano. I studied at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio and began my professional career in the Columbus, Ohio jazz scene. I’ve been lucky enough to have shared the stage with Wynton and Branford Marsalis, Slide Hampton, Wes Anderson, and many others.

Georgia Anne Muldrow

Georgia springs from a family of creative musicians, whose roots run deep in the ’60s and ’70s progressive jazz scene: her father invented instruments for Eddie Harris, and her mother performed with Pharoah Sanders. Their innovation passed to their daughter, who approaches her labyrinth of keyboards, synthesizers and various instruments with a fresh perspective every time.

of Greensboro, North Carolina. Shelby’s motto is to “Spread Light and Love Through Music”

Quentin Talley

Event Curator
Quentin Talley, acclaimed for multiple talents, is an accomplished poet, actor, director, and
producer. He is the inaugural recipient of the 2012 LeadershipU Fellowship for emerging theater
professionals, administered by Theater Communications Group and funded by The Andrew
Mellon Foundation. Recently, he received Arts & Science Council Inaugural Creative Renewal
Fellowship and will be in NYC assisting Renowned Jazz Percussionist, Warren Smith, 50 year
music archive until early 2018.
